A definite yes!

This sunscreen blended in like a moisturizer. It didn’t just sit on top of my skin like most other mineral sunscreens, but it blended in nicely. I love that it has no fragrance but doesn’t smell bad. Read more below on my thoughts on the ingredients and sustainability.

The Good 🌟

  • No white cast after you blend it in fully.

Cocokind Sunscreen Review

For a mineral sunscreen, I’m really impressed by how seamless and lightweight it feels on my skin. I find most sunscreens sit on top of my skin but it sinks in like a moisturizer. This has become a holy grail in my morning skincare routine. Here are more of my thoughts on this natural sunscreen:

  • White Cast: When I first applied it, I saw a visible white cast but after I blended it in for 5 more seconds, there was no more white cast.
  • Moisturizing: I have dry skin and most mineral sunscreens make my skin flakey. This sunscreen did not flake up my skin. It felt like a moisturizer.
  • Tiny bit sticky: The sunscreen is a tiny bit sticky but it’s not an uncomfortable feeling. Sometimes, moisturizers have that same slightly sticky feeling.
  • Fragrance-Free: It’s fragrance-free (which I love!) and it doesn’t smell bad at all.
  • Dewy Finish: Has a slightly dewy finish. I don’t find it to be the dewiest sunscreen I’ve tried but does give you a glow.
  • Not very water-resistant: It’s slightly water-resistant but don’t expect it to survive through lots of sweat or when swimming. The Kinfield Daily Dew is a much better water-resistant sunscreen.

The Cost

  • Cocokind Daily SPF sunscreen costs $25 for a 1.7oz bottle.
  • Other more affordable mineral-based sunscreens like Pipette and Badger come out to around $7-10 per 1.7oz.

Comparing the prices, Cocokind mineral sunscreen is definitely on the pricey side. Until I find a more inexpensive one that compares to the Cocokind texture, I will be happy paying the $25.

Sustainability

I like that Cocokind really prioritizes using sustainable materials in their packaging. The tube is made of 40% sugarcane-derived LPDE and 60% sugarcane-derived HDPE. It’s 100% recyclable.

The only part that’s not recyclable is the cap because of its small size.

The box is made out of FSC paper with soy ink and water-based coating. I think it’s the outside box is not necessary but I can see how it adds to the unboxing experience.

Is It Non-Toxic?

I’m very happy with the ingredient list in this Cocokind daily SPF sunscreen. Here’s a summary of the ingredients:

  • Zinc Oxide: 21% zinc oxide. I like that it’s a high percentage of zinc oxide since it provides effective UV protection.
  • Spirulina Maxima Extract: Antioxidant that protects skin from oxidative stress.
  • Phaeodactylum Tricornutum Extract: Helps shield skin from dust.
  • Rice Starch: Creates a dewy finish and nourishes the skin.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil: Hydrates and evens out skin tone.

All the ingredients look clean and this Cocokind facial sunscreen is non-toxic. It’s also reef safe. I like that it’s broad spectrum and has higher than 30 SPF.

Jasmine’s Notes

A definite buy! The combination of the moisturizing texture, dewy finish, clean ingredients, and lightweight feeling makes this one of my favorite mineral-based sunscreens. Since it’s fragrance-free, it’s good for all skin types including sensitive skin too.

I’ll be honest – it is pricey so you’ll see my using this along with other clean sunscreens to balance out the cost.

Cocokind also has another sunscreen called Silk SPF which is a hybrid sunscreen. That means it’s half mineral-based and half chemical-based. I have yet to give that one a try!

That’s all for my Cocokind sunscreen review! If you tried it, what are your thoughts?
