Axiology Review: I Tried It & Here’s What I Think

Ever since I learned about makeup, I always tended to go for the “no-makeup makeup look”. I would try to make it look so effortless like I was trying to fool others into thinking I was born like this. Looking back, I probably obsessed over this a little too much.
But when I came across videos of people using Axiology makeup, that got me really interested. The makeup looked so incredibly natural. And did I mention it’s also completely plastic free!
So I had to try it out and I thought I’d give you guys my honest Axiology review. When I’m reviewing products, I look for a few things:
- how well the product works (duh, of course!)
- the brand’s sustainability efforts
- ensure the ingredients are non-toxic and clean

Spoiler: I’m a huge fan of their color cream multi-sticks and tinted dew multi-sticks, but not so much their balmies. But I think some people will fall in love with their balmies. I’ll explain later in the article.

My Honest Axiology Review
Axiology Makeup At A Glance
Axiology was started by Ericka in 2013. She started the brand on Etsy and launched her 10-ingredient lipstick with 6 shades. It was a priority for her from the start to create makeup products that are vegan, cruelty-free, and clean.
Since 2022, the makeup brand has switched to becoming 100% plastic-free.
Items I Got From Axiology
These are the products I got from Axiology.
These three products are basically all they sell currently on their website. Plus a ton more shades to choose from.

Packaging
Axiology’s dedication to being 100% plastic-free is a huge feat and definitely needs to be recognized. I can name so many beauty brands that still use plastic. Some brands use 50% post-consumer recycled plastic to create less waste, but that still likely ends up in landfills and the ocean.

I think many brands haven’t completely ditched the plastic because it compromises the experience of using the product. So do expect Axiology’s product packaging to be less luxurious, more lightweight, and smaller in size.
But there are pros to this too. Axiology’s lipstick is actually the same size as a traditional lipstick in a plastic tube. Yay for reducing plastic! If you’re on a zero waste, low waste, or sustainable journey, you’ll love Axiology makeup’s packaging.

Is Axiology Makeup safe?
You know, greenwashing happens more often than we realize. That’s why I don’t really trust what a brand says until I dig into it myself. So, I went ahead and checked out their ingredients list, and I want to show you what I found.

I’m so happy to see that all of these ingredients are safe to use and are very unlikely to cause skin irritation. I like that it’s also made up of tons of natural oils that are not only non-irritating but also nourishing for your skin.
The ingredient list is also relatively short which is something I love seeing. With this information, I can say that Axiology is safe to use. Definitely aligns with what I consider a non toxic product.
What Ingredients Are Not In Axiology Makeup?
Axiology states that they are:
- Lanolin Free
- Carmine Free
- Gluten Free (not officially certified, but no products have gluten)
- Palm Oil Free
- Fragrance Free
- Only uses natural preservatives like elderberry extract and neem oil
EWG Rating of Axiology Makeup
After I do my initial round of investigation into the ingredients, I like to take a look at what EWG rates the product. I always take EWG’s rating with a grain of salt because they tend to exaggerate the danger of certain ingredients.
I took a look at Axiology EWG rating and found that it had a score of 2. The lower the score, the better.
The only concerns that EWG had were two ingredients: tin oxide and iron oxide. The Cosmetic Ingredient Review Expert Panel found tin oxide is safe to use. Iron oxide is safe as well.

Axiology Review (In-Depth)
Balmie Trio Set (Lip To Lid Balmies)

What is the product?
Lip to lid balmies are essentially crayons that can be used on your eyes, lips, and cheeks. Comes with a recyclable box that closes tight to keep the product from drying out.
Customer Reviews
Currently, the Balmie Trio Set has a 4.8/5 rating with 133 reviews. Here’s what some customers are saying:
In love with the colors! They go well together, and are quality cosmetics. They glide on nicely and feel great to wear.
I love this product. A friend had gifted this to me and I was thinking how creative and smart this was. I love that all the packaging is eco friendly and was quite surprised at the level of pigment 🙂
The pigment is nice! A little tricky to hold and use without getting color on your hands, but I love the fact that these are completely earth-friendly. ..so it’s worth the tiny bit of inconvenience for me.
My Review
I wanted to love this product but I didn’t. The crayon was quite small so it was difficult to hold and I kept getting color on my hands. Since it could only apply thin strokes, I couldn’t blend it in easily.
But the good thing is the pigment was very strong. The strawberry color lasted the longest. I tried rubbing it off with water and the color still stayed. The peach color was a little weaker and the chestnut washed away the quickest.
Overall, I would not buy this again.
Multi-Stick Tinted Dew (Humble)

What is the product?
The tinted dew stick is a product for your eyes, lips, and cheeks. I believe it’s a similar formula as the balmies but bigger.
Customer Reviews
Currently, the tinted dew stick has a 4.9/5 rating with 133 reviews. Here’s what some customers are saying:
The tinted dew sticks are the perfect amount of color and shine to give you a natural glow. It glides on smoother than the balmies, but still lasts all day like they do!
On my pale skin, this gives a natural, dewy tint. My new #1 blush. Love that it does not contain aluminum.
I was searching for a lip balm I can feel proud about and will actually use as I embark on my zero waste journey. I am very impressed with the ingredients and packaging.
My Review
This is my favorite product from Axiology. I’m actually obsessed with it. I have fair skin and also quite dry skin so I love that it leaves a dewy finish.
It took 4 to 5 swipes before I could see pigment. And even then, it’s very light. I actually prefer that because I can easily control the amount of color I’m putting on to achieve a natural makeup look. It’s easy to blend with my fingers.
I got the humble shade which is a light peony pink shade which I think gives me the most natural flush.
I would buy this product over and over again!
Color Cream Multi-Stick (Bonafide)

What is the product?
The color cream multi-stick is similar to the tinted dew stick but much more pigmented. It’s also meant to be applied to your lips, cheeks, and eyes.
Customer Reviews
Currently, the color cream multi-stick has a 4.8/5 rating with 133 reviews. Here’s what some customers are saying:
I find that a lot of creamy color sticks last about 20 minutes before they spread and I need to reapply. I am sitting here an hour after application drinking coffee and this stuff isn’t going anywhere.
I love this one! The texture is so smooth and creamy and it’s a beautiful brick brownish red.
The product is very pigmented and nice to use, my eyelids are oily so it doesn’t last as long, the whole day, so I suggest using eye lid primer if you need it
My Review
I’m a big fan of this product. The color shows up clearly after 2 light swipes and I found it to last longer than the tinted dew stick.
I would definitely use this product for times when I want my makeup to be more prominent and long-lasting. It’s also really easy to blend with my fingers.
I got the bonafide shade which is a bold pink color with orange undertones. It’s the bottom shade in the first picture.
If I could only choose one product from Axiology, it wouldn’t be this one but it’s still a really great product. I would recommend it to others.
Pros of Axiology
- Clean Ingredients: Axiology uses all clean ingredients that are safe to use on the skin. It’s also all fragrance-free so it is much less likely to cause skin irritation.
- 100% Plastic-Free: Every single product down to the shipment packaging is 100% plastic free. The packaging is all recyclable and compostable.
- Good for Natural Makeup Look: All products from Axiology are geared towards creating a natural look. The tinted dew stick is the most natural.
- Lightweight: Since there isn’t any unnecessary plastic packaging, all products are very lightweight. It makes it easier to travel with.
- Pigmented: Besides the tinted dew stick, all other products are quite pigmented. The color stays on for a long time too. If you have oily skin, it might have less staying power.
Cons of Axiology
- Be Gentle With Packaging: Since everything is made with paper packaging, the makeup inside can be more fragile. So it’s best to use the products gently.
- Balmies Hard to Apply: The crayons from the balmies were hard to hold and blend in for me. You might have a different opinion though! They do have 4.8/5 rating after all.
So, Is Axiology Worth It?
If you’re getting the tinted dew stick or color cream stick, I’d say Axiology is definitely worth it! I was really impressed by those two products. The tinted dew stick is now my go-to blush and lip product. I’ll need to add it to my list of best natural cream blushes.
Oftentimes, beauty products that put a huge emphasis on eco friendly packaging or plastic free packaging may compromise the quality of the product. It’s hard to know if they’re good until you try them. So after trying it, I really think that Axiology lives up to the hype.

Use the lip to lid balmies by applying them on your eyes, cheeks, and lips. You can use it wherever you want. I like to use my fingers to smudge the color but you can also use a brush to blend it.
