Purezero Shampoo Review

For the past few weeks, I’ve been trying out the Purezero shampoo and conditioner. Here’s my unfiltered Purezero shampoo review.
Would I recommend it?
Maybe, but only if you don’t have extra sensitive skin AND you’re looking for an affordable clean shampoo. Otherwise, if you’re willing to pay a little more, I’d go for some other options. The good thing is it made my hair feel nourished and healthy afterward. There are undisclosed fragrance ingredients in here and even has synthetic fragrances.
About Purezero
Purezero was created by Matt Kuhlman in 2017. He had worked in the health and beauty industry for over a decade and identified an opportunity to create a clean beauty brand at affordable prices. Some more facts about Purezero:
- Headquartered in Saint Pete Beach, Florida
- All products are made in Florida
- They focus on creating good quality clean hair care products that are very affordable.
- Products are packaged in a recyclable plastic bottle.
Purezero Shampoo Review
I tried the Purezero Biotin Shampoo. The texture was thick and had a creamy white color. The packaging made it very easy to let out the product without making a mess.
I like to use shampoo to clean my hair twice. So the first time I applied this shampoo, I didn’t notice much lather even after adding more water. But during the second wash, I noticed significantly more lather. That was when it felt like I was giving my scalp a very good cleanse.
But I think this experience of more lather on the second wash is common. I was impressed at the amount of lather it did create.
Scent-wise, it’s not my absolute favorite but I liked it. It smells sweet but also not too overpowering. The scent is a bit artificial smelling so I wish it smelled more natural. However, I do have some concerns with the fragrance ingredients. More on this below.
I read some of other people’s reviews and some thought the fragrance was too strong. So just keep that in mind if you’re extra sensitive to fragrances.

Purezero Conditioner Review
I also used the Biotin Strengthening conditioner. It’s thick, moisturized my hair well, and helped detangle my hair a bit in the shower.
I just applied conditioner to my ends and a little bit goes a long way. The scent smells almost identical to the Biotin strengthening shampoo.
In terms of how this conditioner felt on my hair, I have no complaints. The feeling of it felt similar to most other conditioners so it didn’t particularly “wow” me.
After washing and drying my hair, I liked that it felt quite soft and nourished. I didn’t feel any kind of greasy feeling like the way that Puracy made my hair feel.
The Cost
It costs $5.99 for each 12 fl oz bottle.
As a relatively clean shampoo brand, I’m very impressed with this price! I love that Purezero is making clean shampoo more accessible to more people. Most clean shampoos with similar ingredients are around $10-12 per bottle.
Sustainability
The bottle is marked #2 (HDPE) is can be easily recycled.
Is It Non-Toxic?
The ingredients are cleaner than your average conventional shampoo and conditioner. However, there are a few ingredients that aren’t the worst but I don’t like them as much. These ingredients are:
- Phenoxyethanol: It’s used as a preservative to make the product last longer and keep out bacteria. But it can be irritating for people with sensitive skin.
- Cocamidopropyl Betaine: This is used to create that thick lather in shampoo and is a cleansing agent. The problem with it is it can produce impurities during the manufacturing process. Those impurities are allergens and can cause skin and eye irritation.
- Fragrance: They don’t disclose what’s in the fragrance except for the fact that it’s a mix of both synthetic and natural fragrance. The fact that they use synthetic fragrances made me deduct 2 stars off.
However, I do like that Purezero is free from sulfates, parabens, dyes, phosphates, phthalates, and gluten.
On the good side, some ingredients in this product can strengthen, add volume, and add moisture to your hair. Those ingredients are:
- Biotin: This is an ingredient that is said to prevent hair loss and increase hair’s shine. However, there is still limited research to prove these claims.
- Hydrolyzed Rice Protein: This is supposed to increase hair volume and hair shine.
- Coco-Betaine: This ingredient is a type of natural surfactant that cleanses well and adds moisture to the hair.
Jasmine’s Final Thoughts
I’d only recommend the Purezero shampoo and conditioner for people who are on a budget yet want to choose cleaner options. So far, I haven’t come across any other relatively clean shampoos that compare to this price point. They also have other shampoos that target other hair care concerns like the Purezero coconut milk moisturizing shampoo.
Despite the ingredients being a bit less than ideal, I like that the product did work for my hair. So overall, I give it a 3 star.
If you’re at Target, I’d recommend picking up the Odele shampoo instead.
That’s all for my Purezero review! If you tried it, what do you think of it?
