I like to smell good all the time so I swear by using deodorants! I used to use conventional deodorants and I never really liked the scents. And when I found out they had toxic ingredients, I never touched them again. I have spent many years trying to find the perfect deodorant that actually works. Out of the dozens I’ve tried, I finally found 9 I love the most. So here are my top picks for the best non toxic deodorants!

My Favorite Deodorant: Humble Deodorant
I’m not kidding, Humble deodorant has THE best deodorant scents. They smell even better than most of the perfumes I’ve tried.
I only need to apply 1x a day and 2x if I get sweaty. The product only has 4 main ingredients and all of them are clean!
The only con is the texture is a bit soft so I need to apply it carefully so that not too much residue gets left behind.
The Best Non Toxic Deodorants That Actually Works
1. Each and Every Natural Deodorant
Best Vegan Deodorant
Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (Oil Made From Coconuts), Tapioca Starch, Ozokerite, Magnesium Hydroxide, Lavender Essential Oil, Magnesium Carbonate, Lavandin Oil, Lemon Essential Oil
My Review: This is my favorite clean vegan deodorant. It has coconut oil instead of beeswax, which most other non-vegan deodorants use. I’m not allergic to baking soda but I do like that their whole line of deodorants doesn’t have baking soda. Which means it’s good for sensitive skin!
My favorite scent is the lavender and lemon. I’m impressed that the fragrance is all made of natural essential oils.
2. Humble Aluminum-Free Deodorant
Best Non Toxic Aluminum Free Deodorant
Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (MCT), Corn Starch, Sodium Bicarbonate, Beeswax, Rose Extract, Bergamot BF Peel Oil, PelargoniumGeranium Oil, Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Geraniol, Limonene
My Review: I’m currently obsessed with this one. The Moroccan Rose is my all-time favorite scent and it actually works. There are even plastic-free alternatives for almost all their scents.
4 main ingredients are all there is in this deodorant (not counting the fragrance). I’m super impressed by this because even most clean deodorants have closer to 5-10.
The texture is a bit on the soft side so I just need to remember to press lightly so not too much product comes out. Don’t get this if the soft texture bothers you. It worked perfectly fine for me though.
If you’re allergic to baking soda, they have deodorants without it here.

3. Attitude Deodorant
Best Non Toxic Deodorant For Sensitive Skin
Ingredients: Magnesium hydroxide, Coconut oil, Shea butter, kaolin, undecane, tridecane, Sunflower seed wax, coco caprylate/caprate, Castor seed oil, behenyl behenate, polyhydroxystearic acid, Candelilla wax, Grape seed oil, Oat kernel extract, glycerin, caprylic/capric triglyceride, Rosemary leaf extract.
My Review: I’m a huge fan of this natural deodorant! If you’re looking for something for sensitive skin, this one is a great option. It’s made without baking soda and fragrance. It’s hypoallergenic and has really hydrating oils like coconut oil, shea butter, and avocado oil. It’s all plastic-free too.
4. Pretty Frank Deodorant
Best Organic Non Toxic Deodorant
Ingredients: Organic Arrowroot Powder, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Magnesium Hydroxide, Organic Coconut Oil, Brassica Alcohol, Organic Shea Butter, Candelilla Wax, Zinc Oxide, Organic Orange Essential Oil, Vanilla Fruit Extract, Vitamin E
My Review: This is my favorite organic deodorant! I love their simple ingredient list. There’s also the option for baking soda or no baking soda.
The scent is really good and it actually kept all smells away for the entire day. I love the design of the packaging too.
5. Lume Alpine Fresh
Best Men’s Non Toxic Deodorant
Ingredients: Neopentyl Glycol Diheptanoate, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Ozokerite, Stearyl Alcohol, Isododecane, Isopentyldiol, Maranta Arundinacea Root Powder, Lauryl Laurate, Mandelic Acid, Sorbitan Oleate, Fragrance*, Silica, Panthenol, Caffeine, Ethylhexylglycerin
My Review: My husband isn’t very much into deodorant but he really loves this one. The Fresh Alpine scent has a subtle pine tree scent. It’s leaning toward a more masculine scent so definitely a good option for all the men out there!
My only concern with this is there is the ingredient “Fragrance” in here and they don’t disclose what’s in it. But I’m still okay with using it because it doesn’t have phthalates, talc, aluminum, baking soda, sulfates, and parabens.
I’ve also tried the Peony Rose scent from Lume and I can’t say it’s my favorite. I’m fine with using it but it’s not one I’d reach for. The don’t particularly love the scent.

6. Earth Mama Deodorant
Best Natural Non Toxic Deodorant
Ingredients: Organic Coconut Oil, Corn Starch, Candelilla Wax, Magnesium Hydroxide, Organic Beeswax, Organic Arrowroot Powder, Tocopherol, Organic Calendula Flower Extract, Ginger Root Oil, Organic Lime Oil
My Review: This and the one from Pretty Frank are one of the few organic deodorants I found. I like that it has very few essential oil ingredients. The texture is bearable for me but not my favorite since it is a bit grainy. But the deodorant does work and covers up smell really well.
I like that there isn’t any baking soda, aluminum, propylene glycol, artificial fragrance, or parabens.
7. EO Deodorant Spray
Best Non Toxic Deodorant Spray
Ingredients: Organic Ethanol, Water, EO Essential Oil Blend [Organic Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Organic Lavandula Hybrida Oil]
My Review: If you’re looking for a good non toxic deodorant spray, this one is one of the best choices. The ethanol in this product is derived from sugarcane.
I love the smell of this deodorant but the scent does go away quickly. I find that I need to frequently apply for it to consistently work.
The good thing is there is no aluminum, synthetic fragrances, propylene glycol, triclosan, or parabens.
8. ThinkSport Stick Deodorant
Best Non Toxic Deodorant For Athletes
Ingredients: Coconut Oil, Candelilla Wax, Beeswax, Corn Starch, Arrowroot Powder, Sodium Bicarbonate, Shea Butter
My Review: If you’re an athlete, this ThinkSport deodorant is the best non toxic deodorant for athletes. It’s specifically designed to support lots of sweat.
I find that you still need to reapply this consistently throughout the day but the good news is it’s made without toxic ingredients like benzene, phthalates, parabens, and aluminum. It’s even an EWG-verified deodorant.
9. Schmidt’s Fragrance Free Deodorant
Best Non Toxic Fragrance Free Deodorant
Ingredients: Arrowroot powder, Coconut Oil, Candelilla Wax, Shea butter, Sodium bicarbonate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride (fractionated coconut oil), Jojoba Seed Oil, Vitamin E
My Review: If you’re looking for a fragrance free option, this Schmidt’s deodorant is another to consider. I like that even without scent, it’s able to keep me from smelling the whole day.
One thing to note is the texture is a bit grainy and rough against the skin. If you’re looking for a fragrance-free deodorant that glides smoothly, this Humble unscented or Attitude deodorant is a good choice.
Toxic Ingredients In Deodorants
Conventional deodorants oftentimes contain these toxic ingredients. I always avoid them!
What to do when no deodorant works?
If you find that no deodorant works, here are some quick deodorant tips I like to try:
- Check Your Clothes: Synthetic fabrics like polyester or nylon are known to trap odor and sweat glands which makes it easily cause odors. Wash your clothes and test your deodorant again.
- Too Much Product Buildup: Too much product can build a layer of film on your armpit. Try to take a break from deodorants for a few days before using them again.
- Apply To Clean, Dry Skin: Make sure you apply deodorant to clean and dry skin. This makes sure there isn’t excess moisture mixed in.
- If you’re transitioning from antiperspirant to deodorant: It can take up to 30 days for your body to adjust to the natural deodorant. To let your body adjust to it, re-apply your natural deodorant a few times a day. For even more effectiveness, use a clay mask under your arms to help detox the area.
That’s a wrap on this post about the best non toxic deodorants! What’s your favorite deodorant?
