I put 7 tinted moisturizers to the test and I’m excited to share which ones are my favorite! I made sure they didn’t have any parabens, sulfates, and other harsh chemicals. I tend to like tinted moisturizers that are highly moisturizing, feel super lightweight on the skin, and have a subtle glowy finish.

Best Non Toxic Tinted Moisturizers

1. ILIA Skin Tint SPF 40

ilia skin tinted moisturizer

Best Non Toxic Tinted Moisturizer with Full Coverage

Active Ingredients: Squalane, Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acids, Zinc Oxide

Best For: Full Coverage, Dry Skin

My Review: This is more of a foundation than a tinted moisturizer. But I like how it felt more lightweight on the skin than most other foundations. So if you want more coverage while also being light on the skin, I’d choose this one.

If you’re going for a more natural look, I wouldn’t choose this one. It also feels a bit more oily than other ones so I only recommend it for dry skin. It does come with many different shades so it’s easy to find the one that matches best with your skin tone. One thing I didn’t like as much about this was the smell when I first opened the bottle. It goes away slightly after I apply it to my face.

Customer Reviews:

Great light weight coverage. I use with Laniege serum underneath. Very fresh looking skin.

Pro: nice finish. Good for dry skin Con: I purchased this a little more than three months ago. I started using over a month ago when the weather started getting dry. I noticed this horrible SMELL when I put it in and it wouldn’t dissipate for a long time.

2. Juice Beauty CC Cream

juice beauty cc cream

Best Non Toxic Tinted Moisturizer with SPF

Active Ingredients: Zinc oxide, Aloe leaf juice (organic), Coconut Oil (organic), Grape Juice (organic)

Best For: Light to Medium Coverage, All Skin Types

My Review: This made my skin feel so smooth and the product barely felt like it was there. The finish is very dewy and velvety which I love. The coverage is very light so it makes for a good no-makeup makeup product. This is a small detail but I like the metal top where the product comes out. I like it more than the usual plastic that other brands use. It creates less mess.

Customer Reviews:

This is my all time favorite beauty purchase. I have sensitive skin with eczema and rosasia, and some sun damage from poor skin care in my 30s.

I absolutely love this CC cream. The coverage is not a full coverage. It’s super light like a tint coverage. It gives enough hydration so your face feels a slight greasy until it sets.

3. Kosas BB Burst

Best Lightweight Tinted Moisturizer

Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide

Best For: Light Buildable Coverage, All Skin Types

My Review: This tinted moisturizer is best if you want something that feels like putting on very hydrating moisturizer. It’s a gel cream that has light coverage that is buildable. It blends easily into the skin and leaves a dewy finish.

Customer Reviews:

Sheer and blends perfectly covering my redness and smoothing my complexion.

I have been trying to find a good foundation forever what seems like forever. I have found it. This feels good on my face it doesn’t settle like other foundations do. Aging skin, ugh. It’s a nice light coverage. Love love love. Finally!!

4. Saie Slip Tint

Best Natural Tinted Moisturizer With SPF

Active Ingredients: Zinc Oxide, Hyaluronic Acid, Licorice Root Extract, and Pansy Flower.

Best For: Light to Medium Coverage, All Skin Types

My Review: This has a very creamy texture that gave me a dewy finish. It naturally gives my skin a natural glow. It’s a very buildable tinted moisturizer. If I apply a thin layer of product, it’s very sheer and covers up only a little bit of my red spots and blemishes. But if I go in with another layer, it gives me a light to medium coverage.

Customer Reviews:

Really great if your skin tends to be dry! This has sheer coverage but it’s buildable if you want to wear it with a more “makeup” look.

Gives me just enough coverage to even out my skin tone and additional SPF with my sunblock. My skin looks dewy and the coverage lasts throughout the day esp with my combo/oily skin.

5. Well People Tinted Moisturizer SPF 30

Well People Tinted Moisturizer

Best Tinted Moisturizer For Oily Skin

Active Ingredients: Zinc

Best For: Light Coverage, Oily Skin

My Review: The consistency is definitely on the thicker side. It’s not greasy or oily at all so I think it works great if you have oily skin. I have dry skin and it feels a little heavy for me and feels a little dry when I apply it on my forehead and around my nose. But I like that it does have a slightly dewy finish and has a light coverage.

Customer Reviews:

Love this skin tint! I wouldn’t say that it’s particularly moisturizing, in fact it’s a bit drying in certain areas (keep in mind I have combination skin). However, when paired with a moisturizer, it has a great finish.

I thought this would have a little more coverage but it was like I hardly had anything on. If you’re looking for that then you’ll love it! I just wanted more coverage.

What toxic ingredients to avoid in tinted moisturizers?

Traditional tinted moisturizers have these toxic ingredients. Definitely should avoid it! They can clog pores and cause skin irritation.

  • Parabens: These are preservatives that can cause health issues such as disrupting hormone function.
  • Mineral Oil or Petroleum: Some conventional tinted moisturizers are made with ingredients derived from petroleum which can clog pores and breakouts. Absolutely avoid if you have oily or acne-prone skin.
  • Alcohol: Alcohol can harm your skin barrier.
  • Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA): BHA and BHT are common preservatives found in cosmetics and can cause allergic reactions.
  • Fragrance: Many brands don’t disclose the exact fragrance ingredients and some can be hormone disruptors and cause skin irritation.
  • Polyethylene glycol: PEG can be contaminated with chemicals like ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane which can cause health concerns.
  • Artificial Colors: Artificial dyes can cause skin irritation.
  • Phthalates: Phthalates can disrupt hormone function.

And if your tinted moisturizer has SPF, you’ll want to avoid these ingredients. More on this topic in our non toxic sunscreens post.

  • Oxybenzone
  • Avobenzone
  • Octinoxate
  • Homosalate
  • Octocrylene
