No. I could not stand the texture of this sunscreen. It felt extremely drying, left a ton of white cast, and felt very greasy. The only good things about this sunscreen are that it’s pretty clean and it has no fragrance.

The Good 🌟

  • No fragrance and has clean ingredients.
  • Very lightweight texture.

Considerations 💭

  • Felt very greasy and oily.
  • Has the most white cast I’ve ever experienced in sunscreen.
  • Created flakes on my dry skin.

What I think of Bare Republic Sunscreen

Bare Republic Sunscreen Review

I was initially really excited to try this sunscreen on because the ingredient list looked pretty clean. When I tried it on, I was very disappointed with the texture.

When I first squeezed the product on my hand, it had a mousse or whipped cream-like texture. Then when I rubbed it on my face, the white cast was very prominent. I kept rubbing it in and until a whole minute later, it started to disappear. It still left my face with a slightly white undertone.

The sunscreen felt very dry on my skin too. I have dry skin and it made my face flakey. The white cast made the flakes even more apparent. It left a matte finish.

After applying, my fingers felt kind of greasy. It’s like the feeling after you touch whipped cream. The oiliness did not easily go away.

The texture of the sunscreen SPF is very lightweight and feels like I don’t have much on my skin. But when I look in the mirror, I don’t look good at all.

The Cost

The Bare Republic Mineral Face Sunscreen costs $14.99 for a 1.7 fl oz bottle. I’d say that’s quite an average and reasonable price for a mineral-based sunscreen.

Sustainability

The bottle is recyclable and was packaged in a recyclable cardboard box.

Is Bare Republic Sunscreen Safe?

Overall, the ingredients look very clean and there’s nothing I’m concerned about.

They don’t use any of these ingredients in their sunscreens:

  • Oxybenzone
  • Octinoxate
  • Phthalates
  • Phenoxyethanol
  • Propylene glycol
  • Retinyl Palmitate
  • SLS/SLES
  • Sulfates
  • Synthetic Fragrances
  • Talc
  • Formaldehyde
  • Parabens
  • Mineral Oil
  • …. and much more

In terms of active ingredients, they have 5.2% titanium Dioxide and 2.5% Zinc Oxide. I prefer sunscreens that have a higher percentage of zinc oxide. Research has shown that zinc oxide is better at sun protection than titanium dioxide.

This sunscreen lotion is fragrance free so it’s good for sensitive skin.

Jasmine’s Notes

Not a buy. I really didn’t like the feeling of this Bare Republic mineral sunscreen, so I don’t recommend it.

I took a glimpse at the reviews online after writing my own review and it was surprisingly positive. Many people are saying they’re okay with the white cast and it’s actually working for their oily skin. Just from the reviews, I think this could be good if you have very oily skin.

If you have dry skin or even combination skin, you will definitely find this too drying. I recommend something more moisturizing like the Cocokind sunscreen.

That’s all for my Bare Republic sunscreen review! What are your thoughts?
