harney and sons ginger tea

My Top Pick for Best Ginger Tea: Harney & Sons

Harney & Sons’s Organic Ginger Lemon Tea is my top choice because it has some of the strongest ginger tea flavors. It’s made with 100% organic ginger, organic lemon peel, and organic black pepper. It does have organic cane sugar so it’s slightly sweet.

It’s stronger on the ginger than the lemon which I personally really like.

Best Organic Ginger Teas

1. FGO Organic Ginger Tea Bags

best organic ginger tea bags - fgo organic

Best Pure Ginger Tea For Digestion

Ingredients: Ginger Powder

Price: $19.99 for 100 tea bags

My Review: This is a really solid choice for pure ginger tea. It’s made with 100% ginger powder with no extra sugar. You can really taste the spicy kick of the ginger come through. But I would say it isn’t the strongest ginger tea I’ve tried. I think you’ll like it if you like a more mild ginger taste that’s not bland. I like adding some honey or organic sugar to mine to make it a bit sweeter.

Customer Reviews:

If you enjoy the taste of ginger you would need to use two bags to give you that kick.

Finally, a Ginger Tea with a really strong Ginger Flavor – really good tea, not much else to say.

Still trying to find the ginger taste. Very slight. I want a ginger tea to taste heavily of ginger.

2. Vahdam Turmeric Organic Herbal Ginger Tea

vahdam gingere herbal tea

Best Organic Turmeric Ginger Loose Leaf Tea:

Ingredients: Turmeric, Ginger

Price: 2 pack for $17.99

My Review: If I had to choose a ginger tea with turmeric, I would go for this one as one of the best ginger tea brands. The ginger is in chunks rather than in powder form which means it won’t dissolve as well. But I didn’t mind it because the ginger flavor still seeped through. I loved the combination of the two ingredients and it felt very soothing. The ginger is not the strongest.

I really like that the brand Vahdam gives back 1% of its revenue to TEAch Me which is an organization that aims to provide education for the tea workers’ children.

Customer Reviews:

Great tea with lovely chunks of ginger and turmeric. Great packaging to keep the tea super fresh and a zip lock tea bag to keep it stored in.

The tea was too weak. Needed more lemongrass or something added. The ginger was nice.

3. Harney & Sons Organic Ginger Lemon Tea

harney and sons ginger lemon turmeric tea

Best Ginger Lemon Tea

Ingredients: Organic ginger root, organic lemon peel, organic cane sugar, and organic black pepper.

Price: $28 for 50 tea bags

My Review: By far my favorite organic ginger tea. The ginger taste is stronger than most other ginger tea brands I’ve tried. I think it’s because the black pepper gives it a bit more of a spicy kick. I like how it comes with a bit of organic cane sugar so it’s slightly sweet. I usually add honey or sugar to my ginger tea anyway. The lemon taste isn’t too strong but I like that it paired really well with the ginger.

Customer Reviews:

Wow. This is the best ginger root tea I have tried so far. If you like strong Ginger flavor you will like this tea. I didn’t taste any of the lemon which is good because I don’t want lemon in my ginger tea.

It’s a good, strong, spicy ginger, good for any time of year. I highly recommend it for anyone who may have stomach or other digestive issues.

4. FGO Organic Lemon Ginger Tea Bags

fgo lemon ginger tea bags

Best Lemon Ginger Tea (Tastes More Minty)

Ingredients: Lemongrass, Ginger Root, Lemon Peel, Peppermint Leaf, Licorice Root, Stevia Leaf

Price: $19.99 for 100 bags

My Review: While the ginger lemon tea from Harney & Sons was stronger, this one by FGO is more light. It actually has a slightly strong taste of mint. I personally am not a huge fan of peppermint tea so I can’t comment on if it tastes good or not. But just another option if you like minty herbal teas and also want ginger too.

Customer Reviews:

My only complaint is that there is peppermint in the Lemon Ginger tea and that lessons the Lemon Ginger flavor.

The ginger lemon taste could have been stronger.

5. Steep by Bigelow Organic Lemon Ginger Tea

best organic ginger tea - steep by bigelow

Best Lemon Ginger Tea (Strong)

Ingredients: Organic ginger, organic lemongrass, organic blackberry leaves, organic apple, organic lemon oil, organic lime oil, organic cinnamon, organic licorice root, organic orange peel, natural citrus flavor with other natural flavors, organic lemon peel, and organic clove.

Price: $6 for 20 tea bags

My Review: This ginger herbal tea definitely has more complex flavors because it has many different spices and citrus ingredients in the tea blend. You can definitely taste the strong ginger taste and the lemon too. The lemon taste isn’t too bitter because it’s blended with other fruits like blackberry, orange peel, apple, and lime. I really like this one.

Customer Reviews:

I really love this tea, It has a nice hot ginger with a smooth lemon flavor.

Some teas of this flavor have too much lemon bitterness or too much ginger bite (looking at you, Yogi), but this one is perfect. It’s especially good with a bit of honey.

Ginger has a rich flavor, but no spicy taste. Lemon has a crisp taste but no acidity on the palate.

6. Spice Train Organic Ginger Powder

Best Pure Ginger Powder

Ingredients: Ginger powder

Price: $11.99

My Review: I think ginger lovers will love this one! It comes in powder form and you can choose how much powder you want in your organic tea. So you can add more if you like the spicy ginger taste. This powder is also really good for not just drinking but also for making smoothies and baked goods.

Customer Reviews:

This ginger was surprisingly fresh and gave a distinct and lovely taste to some cookies we baked.

Nice and spicy ginger good strength. I have bought powdered ginger for a long time this is decent, not the best but definitely decent enough for any cooking purposes.

harney and sons - golden milk tea

Best Milky Ginger Tea:

Ingredients: Organic Turmeric, Organic Ginger, Organic Coconut Pieces, Organic Black Pepper, and Organic Chicory Root.

Price: $25

My Review: This one may sound like a weird combination for ginger tea, but it actually works. I like to go for Harney & Sons because their teas oftentimes are stronger. This one definitely has a strong pepper and ginger taste. The coconut pieces are such a nice addition and they taste really good with milk! The packaging is beautiful too.

Customer Reviews:

I’ve only tried a few other brands of golden milk but this one seems to suit me very well. It has a strong taste of ginger and pepper with just a hint of sweetness.

It’s grown on me and I totally enjoy this tea. Be careful not to add too much as the pepper taste can be overbearing. Also, it is definitely best in almond or oat milk.

8. Numi Organic Tumeric Chai Golden Latte

numi turmeric chai golden latte

Best Ginger Chai Tea:

Ingredients: Organic Turmeric, Organic Ginger, Organic Coconut Pieces, Organic Black Pepper, and Organic Chicory Root

Price: $14

My Review: For all my chai lovers out there, this one’s for you. I also LOVE chai so this ginger chai tea was really delicious. After you mix it with warm milk or warm water, the powder dissolves pretty well. The flavor is very flavorful and is a good mix of spicy, comforting, and soothing.

Customer Reviews:

If you love chai, this one is for you. It’s a very flavorful turmeric chai blend with ingredients like Fair Trade Certified organic turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, licorice root, and black pepper.

I’m a bit of a newbie to turmeric, but I think this is about the most delicious drink I’ve had. I warmed up almond milk with a teaspoon of the mix in it until it dissolved and was warm. It was just the right amount of spice and didn’t find it unpalatably gritty. It was so delicious.

9. Nutra Tea Ginger Ginseng Root Tea Bags

nutra ginseng ginger tea - best organic ginger teas

Best Ginseng Ginger Tea

Ingredients: Ginger (50%) & Ginseng (50%)

Price: $10.99 for 20 tea bags

My Review: I liked the spiciness of the ginger in these herbal tea bags. It’s not the strongest I’ve tried but it was enough of a spicy kick for me. When mixed with ginseng, I feel like it gives me more energy and makes me feel healthier overall. Ginseng is supposed to lower blood sugar, boost energy, and increase blood circulation. I like to add some sweetener to this to make it taste even better.

Customer Reviews:

Has a spicy taste but I don’t mind, this tea helped tremendously with pregnancy constipation and morning sickness.

Just two cups of this tea bag and a black tea bag make really delicious hot tea, tastes and smells tangy but the flavor is very mild.

My Review: This ginger tea has a strong turmeric tea flavor but it’s also not too overpowering. It has a spicy kick and it feels very soothing for my throat. It also has some citrus ingredients in the tea blend like orange peel and orange oil which makes it slightly sweet.

Customer Reviews:

This is very yummy. I love ginger and I love turmeric. Turmeric is an acquired taste though so if you don’t like it you prob won’t like this. This tea is sweet and herbal.

Outstanding… I actually get two cups per bag. My friends love it when I serve this tea.

11. Pukka Three Ginger Tea

pukka ginger tea

Healthiest Ginger Tea

Ingredients: 100% Organically Grown Ingredients: Ginger Root (52%), Galangal Root (28%), Licorice Root, Turmeric Root (4%). 16% Fairwild Certified Ingredients (Licorice)

Price: $7 for 20 tea bags

My Review: I think this might be one of the most nutritious ginger teas. It has ginger, turmeric, and galangal. Galangal fights inflammation and boosts your immune system. I would say the ginger taste isn’t as strong in these tea bags.

Customer Reviews:

This is the tea I always drink if I’m feeling under the weather. Great with a little honey added.

I remember trying these years ago and loving them and making a mental note to try them if ever I saw them on the shelves again. Well, memory did not serve me, because this tea is super bland. Trader Joe’s Turmeric and Ginger tea has a much stronger taste. I’m wondering if maybe this batch is just stale

FAQs on Organic Ginger Teas

Is it good to drink ginger tea everyday?

Yes, it’s good to drink ginger tea every day. The FDA says it’s safe to consume up to 4 grams of ginger a day. Below we have listed the best ginger tea for digestion, inflammation, and soothing an upset stomach.

Are ginger tea bags as good as fresh ginger tea?

Short answer, yes. According to a 2019 study, fresh pure ginger contains higher levels of gingerols while dry ginger contains higher levels of shogaols. In short, they’re both pretty much equally effective and beneficial for your health.

Organic vs Conventional Ginger Tea

Organic ginger tea follows organic farming techniques which make the product safer for you to consume, for the growers, and for the environment. This type of farming method doesn’t use any synthetic pesticides to treat crops.

Something I’ve found is some ginger teas are made up of organic ingredients but they actually don’t have the certification. In this case, look to see that it’s non-GMO and doesn’t use harmful pesticides or synthetic fertilizers.

Conventional ginger tea is made with ginger and other ingredients that are sprayed with synthetic pesticides. They have a higher chance of containing heavy metals such as cadmium and lead.

And that’s a wrap on the best organic ginger teas! These are the best tasting ginger teas I found. Which ones are your favorite?
